This week, we will explore SDG 4, which calls to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The Global Challenge: Why Take Action?
According to the Sustainable Development Knowledge Platform, achieving inclusive and equitable quality education for all will require increasing efforts, especially in sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Asia and for vulnerable populations, including persons with disabilities, indigenous people, refugee children and poor children in rural areas. In 2014, about 2 in 3 children worldwide participated in pre-primary or primary education in the year prior to official entry age for primary school. However, in the least developed countries, the ratio was only 4 in 10.
Your Business Opportunity:
A lack of relevant skills in the supply chain deprives businesses of the talent they need. Education can unleash the skills, talent, and ingenuity needed for the private sector to thrive. A more educated workforce also leads to greater disposable income for consumer spending. It is in the vital interest of each business entity to actively participate in increasing literacy, and a broad range of other learning and educational opportunities, in areas they operate in, as the foundation for future growth.

Intel
“Intel’s newest social impact initiative, Intel® Innovation Generation, is catalyzing an ecosystem of partners—from governments to NGOs to higher education institutions—to inspire young people and expand access to opportunities that will help them succeed and innovate using the power of technology.

Intel Innovation Generation includes four key programs:

Make Tomorrow. Inspiring more young people to become innovators, creators and problem solvers by connecting them to technology-focused maker experiences and a global online social community of other youth innovators.

Future Skills. Collaborating to close critical gaps and transform today’s workforce development and youth empowerment programs through the infusion of technology curricula, hands-on innovation experiences, and employability skills training.

Higher Education. Working with higher education institutions to integrate technology across academic disciplines to ensure a broader range of students can apply technology to make a difference in their communities and the world.

She Will Connect. Accelerating closure of gender gaps in technology access and career paths by empowering more girls and women to use technology, connecting them to economic and social opportunities and inspiring them to become future innovators.”
